Maria Stroumpa

Born and raised in Komotini, she had the opportunity to go on several family trips to mountains, beaches and rivers of the area. Besides traveling, diving and dancing, Maria loves to discover the world through children’s eyes. That’s why she studied to be a kindergarten teacher (D.P.Th.) and later obtained a master’s degree in Environmental Education (A.P.Th.). She worked as a clown-animator and as a teacher in nurseries and kindergartens in Greece , but also in a Forest School in England.

Her main interest is the inquiry of possible ways to cultivate a positive relationship between humans and the natural environment. She started working in environmental organizations, reading about Environmental Ethics and following the principles of Zero Waste, by changing her own lifestyle first. Maria is the founder and coordinator of “kookoonari” and this way she hopes that more people will get inspired to follow a different way of thinking and acting based on collective procedures!
